One of the must see attractions in Greece is the Acropolis. Here you can see many beautiful monuments such as the Great Propylasia, Parthenon and the Erekththeion. The temple to Athena Polias which was the goddess of the city in Ancient times. The Erekhtheion is the temple to Poseidon, which a breathtaking site to see. On the other side of the Acropolis, the side that faces the sea is the Theatre of Dionysus; this is where all the Greek Tragedies were performed.

When you are done there you can take a walk over to the Areopagus. Back in Ancient times they held public meetings here. This spot is so old that it existed long before the Parthenon was built. That should give you an idea of how ancient it really is. If you walk around to the back you will see the Cave of Furies. St. Paul gave a famous sermon here; he would stand on a rock and have the town people stand or sit on the floor.

Then there is National Archaeological Museum. This museum has so many things to see you could easily spend all day. You may have to take a taxi or drive over, it is a bit away. They have paintings, statues and vases; they offer you a handbook, so you won’t miss anything. Another great thing to see is the Eleusis which you need a taxi; it is about 13 miles away. This is where they celebrated the Great Mysteries, try doing some research on that before you go, so you have an idea of what you are seeing when you get there.

You will need a car for this trip but it is a must see, the Corinth, it is Temple to Apollo. There are 7 remaining columns left but the site is outstanding. There is also an Agora where St. Paul gave another sermon. Read Euripides Medea you will get the entire story before going. Reading the story after isn’t the same. Try to get it before hand. You may be able to find it online.

The Ancient City of Thebes is where the stories of Bacchae and Oedipus took place. The 7 gates are almost gone but you can spot the ruins. There is also a museum; you can walk around the city. It should take about 90 minutes to walk around the entire city. Another great place to visit is the Sounion is a beautiful, breathtaking temple of Poseidon. You can get a feel for a lot of the Greek mythology at all of these locations. You really get to see what Ancient Greece was like. These sights are free to see all you need is a way to get there.
